Explain the different types of soil and classification of alluvial soil on the basis of their age
Answers
Answer:
There are three basic type of soil
1) sand
2) silt
3) clay
1) SAND
sand is a small particle of weathered rock.
Sand is fairly coarse and loose.
Water can easily drain through it.
Sand is good for drainage but not good for growing plants.
Sand is not able to hold water or nutrients
2) SILT
Silt can be called as fine sand.
Silt has the ability to hold water better than sand.
Silt is like a flour when you hold it.
3) CLAY
clay is a very fined soil.
Clay has a smaller particle than silt.
Clay does not drain well.
It does not provide a space for plants root to flourish.
CLASSIFICATION OF ALLUVIAL SOIL
Soil are also classified on the basis of their age. so alluvial soil can be classified as old alluvial(bangar) and new alluvial (khadar) . The bangar has the higher concentration of kankar nodules than the khadar. Khadar has a fine particle and is more fertile than bangar soil
