explain the different types of soil erosion and preventive measures

Nearly everyone is discussing methods of erosion control but let’s look at the root of the problem. You have two main erosive agents, wind and water. As you increase the velocity of either, you increase the erosive energy of either. To control erosion you have to reduce erosive energy at the interface of the soil and the erosive agent. With wind and or water you have overland flow, raise the wind away from the surface or slow the water flow, erosion declines. Water in the form of raindrops is the most damaging in that drops initiate soil movement via splashing. Again, reduce rain drop size and velocity you reduce erosion. Most all the previous descriptions relate to one or more of these basic properties of erosion. There is one major rule in erosion control. “Vegetation is the solution to erosion”. All other control methods are more difficult and more expensive to apply.
