1- If you want to select all the text in the document click anywhere and press Ctrl + A.

2- For selecting any line, text or paragraph place the cursor at the start of a word or line and then click.

3- After clicking hold and drag the cursor to the point you want to select

To select a paragraph, place your cursor at the start of the paragraph, and press Ctrl + Shift + down arrow.

non alphabetic or non numeric characters are known as special characters such as@,#,$,&. characters can be inserted by using unicode value in your document, position the insertion point where you want the special character to appear.

Count the number of words in a part of a document

To count the number of words in only part of your document, select the text you want to count. Then on the Tools menu, click Word Count. Just like the Word desktop program, Word for the web counts words while you type
