HEYA! MY FRIEND HANOONA1 ,

ltz pleasure to help u with question"Explain the digestion of food in stomach" which is a very important question.

Here ur answer is
===============

First of all ,Know that both chemical and mechanical digestion take place in stomach.

Food get digested in stomach by churning movement of wall of stomach and by getting mixed with gastric juice secreted by gastric gland situated on the wall of stomach which contains mucus ,hcl(hydrochloric acid) pepsin etc.

Now lets see how these gastric juices helps in digestion of food ::

#Hcl(hydrochloric acid)
---------------------------------

*It maintains proper acidic medium for the activation of enzymes

* it also kills the germs.

#Pepsin
------------

*It is a protein digestive enzyme.

*lt converts protein into simpler units called peptons.

#Mucus
-----------

*Mucus converts the medium of food into acidic for cultivation of pepsin.

*lt protects the inner lining of the stomach from the action of the acid under normal conditions

Answer :-

The digestion of food inside the stomach, is as follows :-

  • The swallowed food material enters the stomach through the "Oesophagus" (Food pipe).

  • The stomach secretes "Gastric Juice".

  • The pH of the "Gastric juice" lies between the range of 1 to 3.5

  • The stomach is the chief site of digestion of "Proteins".

  • Food mixed with gastric juice inside the stomach, is known as "Chyme".

  • The columnar epithelium of stomach forms many gastric pits along with gastric glands.

  • Gastric glands are located on the Mucosa of the stomach.

  • The Peptic or Zymogen cells secrete digestive proenzymes namely "Pepsinogen" and "Prorenin".

  • The oblique muscles of the stomach help in the churning of food inside the stomach.

  • The "Oxyntic cells" of the stomach secrete Hydrochloric Acid (HCL).

  • The Hydrochloric acid helps in the activation of "Pepsinogen".

  • The Hydrochloric acid helps in killing the harmful microbes present inside the swallowed food material.

  • After the completion of digestion inside the stomach, the food heads towards the small intestine for further simplification, through the "Duodenum".
