Scientists agree to use a convention which shows the direction of the electric charge flow (the current) in a circuit as being from the positive terminal of the battery towards the negative terminal.

Direction of electric current :-

(i) In term of terminal of cell or battery

⟹ Current flow from positive to negative terminal of battery .

(ii) In term of flow of electron

⟹ current will flow opposite to direction of flow of current .
