1. Directive Principles of State Policy aim to create social and economic conditions under which the citizens can lead a good life. They also aim to establish social and economic democracy through a welfare state. The Constitution of India does not formally classify the Directive Principles of State Policy but for better understanding and on the basis of content and direction- they can be classified into three categories: Socialistic Principles, Gandhian Principles, and Liberal-Intellectual Principles.
2.The directive principles are guidelines given to Central and State governments by the Constitution. We can, therefore, assess the performance of the government by considering how far its laws and actions are consistent with the directive principle.
