Different kinds of animals based on their eating habits

All animals are directly or indirectly or indirectly dependent on plants for their food. Based on their feeding habits, animals are divided into different kinds.

Herbivores – Animals such as cow, horse, deer, squirrel, hippopotamus etc. are herbivorous animals. Their teeth are blunt and wide for pulling off plants from ground and for chewing.

Carnivores – Animals such as tiger, lion, wolves, eagle, kite, peacock, snakes etc. are examples of carnivorous animals. They have sharp teeth and claws to tear off the flesh of the animals.

Omnivores – Cockroaches, birds, bear, human beings etc. are examples of omnivores. They have both cutting and tearing teeth. Omnivorous birds have pointed beak that help them to eat insects, seeds and fruits.

Scavengers – Vultures, crow, burying beetle, raccoons, jackals, hyenas etc. are examples of scavengers. They help us in maintaining our surroundings free of dead animals and thereby keep it clean.

Decomposers – Organisms which break down the dead and decaying organisms and mix them in soil and in doing so they carry the natural process of decomposition. Bacteria and fungi are examples of decomposers.

Parasites – They are plants or animals that live on or inside the other living beings and get their food from them. Leeches, mosquitoes, lice, bedbugs, roundworms, tapeworms etc. are examples of parasites
