The lord Macaulay had it's mind already set towards the education system of India. He thought current system in India is no near in advancement as compared to European countries so he Suggest that the medium of education should be changed from native language to english medium. Even the Governor General for India approved it. But they face fierce opposition as the people don't want to change the medium due to which the government change the policy and only few education institutes was upgraded to english medium.
some Indians support western system So, the Macaulay got the chance and said Indian wanted it but opposition explained that they just want to know enough to gain higher position in british government,
After that Macaulay even try to change the language of literature and newspaper in India the intentions was to change the whole system of india in and control it. so try to convince the people to change their system in to british education system as their system got little knowledge , people starting to convinced , and started to adopt it.

Lord Macaulay came to India with a pre-conceived
notion that Indian education system would not be at par with the British or the
European system as the medium of education was Sanskrit or Arabic.
To justify his statement he went ahead and translated some of the content being taught and got it assessed by the people who he thought were the highly educated and could do justice to the education system.
As expected he came back with papers stating that the education system had to be changed and a generalized English medium of education needs to set up in order to uplift the education system in India.
