Answer:

Atmospheric refraction

Atmospheric refraction is the deviation of light or other electromagnetic wave

Scattering of light

The particles/molecules which scatter light are called scatterers and can also include particulates made by human industry. Selective scattering (or Rayleigh scattering) occurs when certain particles are more effective at scattering a particular wavelength of light.

Atmospheric Refraction and Scattering depend on the medium.

Explanation:

Refraction means :- The phenomenon of the change in the path of light as it passes from one medium to another medium

Atmospheric Refraction:- When the light rays pass through the atmosphere that have layers of different densities and refractive indices (i.e pass from one medium to another medium), then refraction of light takes place. By means of this refraction of light by the earth’s atmosphere is called “atmospheric refraction”

Scattering of light :- This is the phenomenon in which light is deflected from its path due ti the intersection with the particle of medium through which it passes .Basically the scattering process involves the absorption of light by the molecules followed by its re-radiation in different direction. They are of two types

  1. Elastic Scattering
  2. Inelastic Scattering
