Bonjour!!

We take a think piece of pure copper metal wire as cathode and thick piece of impure copper as anode. We take copper sulphate solution as electrolyte. When electricity is passed, pure metal at anode get mixed in electrolyte and then make coatings on cathode, the impure metal. The soluble impurities get mixed in electrolyte and insoluble impurities settle below the anode and is also known as ‘anode mud’.
