The society was divided into three estates- 1st estate ..
2nd estate..
3rd estate..
- 1st estate consists of clergy mans..
- 2nd estate consists of rich landlords and noble man's..
- 3rd estate consists of peasants, landless labour, servants, comman people, etc.
- The people of 3rd estate had to pay all the taxes but the 1st and 2nd estate were free to pay taxes...

There are three estate in France in old regime 1st estate was clergy he was exempted from paying taxes.
2nd was nobility only few members are not exempted from paying taxes.
3rd is the common people peasants , merchants etc all the taxes are given by then clergy and nobility also used to take taxes from them
