firstly women are not responsible for the sex of the foetus.

the explanation for the same is female has XX chromosomes where as the male has XY chromosomes.

at the time of the physical contact (sex) the sperms are released by penis into the ovary through the vagina in the ovary the process of fertilization takes place. if the male X chromosome pairs with  X chromosome of female then the sex of the foetus is female and if the Y chromosome of male fuses with the XX of the female then the sex of the foetus is male.
