When we smell something i.e something like an apple pie for instance the fumes enter the nasal cavity due to the sniffing. The nasal cavity is lined with the olfactory epithelium these are special cell involved in the smell. These epithelial cell contain sell receptors that bind with the odorous molecules and send the message to the brain through olfactory nerve. In the fore brain olfactory bulb is present that helps in identifying and distinguishing different ordure.
