If we take one of the factors such as light intensity the plant location will be hugely deviated depending upon their inability or ability to tolerate high light intensity:
Shade plants (sciophytes, e.g., Oxalis) and sun plants (heliophytes, e.g., Dalbergia)
Shade plants grow in poorly illuminated areas and conditions while sun plants grow in the open
Many more factors such as the volume of carbon dioxide, quality of light, etc. come into play.
