Social mobility is defined as the movement of any individual or a group in the social hierarchy whether horizontally or vertically.

The factors which initiates Social mobility in the society are as follows:-

1) Occupation- The occupation of a person plays an important role in changing the standard of living of a person. With the increase in the standard of living, people themselves become mobile in the society and try to manage a good lifestyle apart from their caste.

2) Education- It is believed by B.R Ambedkar that Education is the only medium that can lead to change the social structure of Indian Society. If a person is educated, it does not matter from which caste he is coming, he will be appreciated and avail equal opportunity in the society.

3) Marriage- It is the another factor which lead to social mobility in the society. In the pursuit of Indian culture, marital aspects is the most influencing factor and mostly helping in the social mobility to take place in the society.
