FEBRUARY REVOLUTION:

In February 1917, food shortages were deeply felt in workers’ quarters.

On 22nd February, a lockout took place at a factory. The next day workers in fifty factories called out a strike in sympathy.

Demonstrating workers crossed from the factory quarters to the centre of the capital - Neveskii Prospect.

The govt. Imposed curfew and called out cavalry to keep an eye on the demonstrating workers.

On 25th February, the govt. Suspended Duma. Politicians spoke out against this measure. Demonstrators returned to force in 26th February. On 27th February,  

the police headquarters were ransacked.

SOVIET or COUNCIL = Striking Workers + Soldiers.

PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT = SOVIET LEADERS + DUMA LEADERS.

Petrograd led the Revolution in February that brought down Monarchy in February.

OCTOBER REVOLUTION:

The conflict between provisional government and the Bolsheviks led to the October Revolution - 1917.

On 16th October Vladimir Lenin, persuaded the Petrograd Soviet and Bolshevik Party to agree to a seizure of power. A Military Committee was appointed by Leon Trotskii organized a seizure.  

The Uprising began on 24th October, and prime minister Kereneskii left the city to summon troops.

Military Revolutionary Committee ordered his followers to seize Govt. offices, buildings, and arrest ministers. Later ship Aurora shelled Winter Palace. Other vessels sailed down River Neva and took over various military points.

At the meeting of All Russian Congress of Soviets, the Bolshevik action was supported by the majority.

By the december Moscow-Petrograd area was under the control of Bolsheviks.
