first law of newton sdtates that
 An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
Or we can say that an object stays in its motion until and unless a opp. force or restoring force is applied to it.

In other words, we can say that 'all objects resist a change in their state of motion.'
