Mitosis has many stages like
- Prophase
- Metaphase
- Anaphase
- Telophase
In this question , we will discuss about Prophase :
As the name suggests , Prophase is the 1st phase Mitosis.
- It involves condensation of the chromatin network onto Chromosomes
- It nuclear wall starts breaking down and the nuclear material comes out into the cytoplasm by the starting of metaphase.
- Due to replication during Prophase , the sister chromatids can be seen partially in Prophase.
- This phase occurs after Interphase , hence all the cellular organelles are replicated or duplicated.
- There is formation of mitotic spindle.
So the major characteristics are :
- Formation of mitotic spindle
- Beaking of nuclear membrane
- Chromosomal condensation
