Mitosis has many stages like

  • Prophase
  • Metaphase
  • Anaphase
  • Telophase

In this question , we will discuss about Prophase :

As the name suggests , Prophase is the 1st phase Mitosis.

  1. It involves condensation of the chromatin network onto Chromosomes
  2. It nuclear wall starts breaking down and the nuclear material comes out into the cytoplasm by the starting of metaphase.
  3. Due to replication during Prophase , the sister chromatids can be seen partially in Prophase.
  4. This phase occurs after Interphase , hence all the cellular organelles are replicated or duplicated.
  5. There is formation of mitotic spindle.

So the major characteristics are :

  • Formation of mitotic spindle
  • Beaking of nuclear membrane
  • Chromosomal condensation

Answer:

A growing and dividing cell goes through a series of stages called the cell cycle . The first stages of the cell cycle involve cell growth, then synthesis of DNA . In mitosis, two cells called daughter cells are produced, each identical to the parent cell
