A)Answer. When lime combines with water it becomes a basic substance called lime water. CaO + H2O >>>> Ca(OH)2. This basic substance has the ability to neutralize acidic soil as shown by this chemical reaction

B)Toothpaste are made to be alkaline or basic in nature to counteract the acids in our mouth.
