a) Metals like sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium are present high on the activity series so they are highly reactive metals. These metals can displace hydrogen ions from the solution giving hydrogen gas. Reactive metals are never found in free state as they have high affinity for other elements.

b) Aluminium metal forms a thin layer of aluminium oxide all over its surface under the action of moist air. This layer prevents the metal underneath from further corrosion. It is cheap, easily available, malleable and ductile. Therefore, it is used to make utensils cooking.
