d. Strong acids and bases should be handled carefully
Answers
Answer:
a) Vinegar is used to packed items like sauce, pickles etc. Because vinegar is a food preservative and these preservatives are used to protect food items from being spoiled. These food preservatives helps to spoil the food slowly slowly and make the food to stay fresh for long time.
b) Slaked lime is added to factory waste to neutralise the acidity of the acids present in it. If factory waste is discharged into water bodies without being treated can cause harm to fish and other aquatic animals.
c) As an antacid, magnesium hydroxide is dosed at approximately 0.5–1.5 g in adults and works by simple neutralization, where the hydroxide ions from the Mg(OH)2 combine with acidic H+ ions produced in the form of hydrochloric acid by parietal cells in the stomach to produce water.
d) These substances are highly volatile and can react easily with your skin and cause damage to your skin which can not be undone.
