Answer:

  1. Ice has the highest sp. latent heat of fusion of 336,000 jkg-1. Thus, every 1 kg of water at 0°C, on freezing releases 336,000 J of heat energy. As enormous amount of heat energy is released in atmosphere, therefore weather becomes pleasant.
  2. Snow needs heat energy to melt which is equal to the latent heat of fusion. In order to get that heat ,it absorbs heat from the surroundings due to which the surroundings temperature falls and it feels simply cold.
  3. Defining specific heat, heat of fusion, and heat of vaporization. How to calculate the amount of heat to change the temperature of water and the energy required to change for a phase change.
  4. While it may seem logical that introducing something cold, like ice cream, into the stomach should help reduce temperature, its initial cooling effect is rapidly replaced by heat generated by digestive processes needed to break down the nutrients in ice cream.
