Explain the following: Carbon tetrachloride does not give precipitate with AgNO₃ solution, while SiCl₄ does so.

Carbon tetrachloride doesn’t hydrolyse in water to release its chlorine atoms whereas SiCl4 will. Chlorine in solution react with silver to form silver chloride which has a low solubility in water.
