(A) Eligibility of a judge of the Supreme Court
a judge of one high court or more (continuously), for at least five years, or.
an advocate there, for at least ten years, or.
a distinguished jurist, in the opinion of the president,power conferred by clause(2) of article 124 of the Constitution of India.
(B) According to Article 143 of the Constitution of India, the President of India may refer to the Supreme Court of India, a question of law or fact which, he thinks, is of public importance. However, it is not binding on the Supreme Court to answer questions raised in the reference.
