Explain the following : - Gas exerts pressure on the walls of the container. Why? Solid carbon dioxide is called dry ice.

the molecules of gas has negligible attraction force between them. due to this the gas molecules move freely and as far as they can. when gas is filled in any container the molecules of gas strike on the walls and then return and now strike with another molecules. this process continues endlessly. thus gas exert force on walls.

2)Solid carbon dioxide directly changes into carbon dioxide gas and does not melt to produce a liquid (like ordinary ice) hence it is called dry ice.
