Answer
1) The chemical reaction in which a reactant combines with oxygen or loses hydrogen to form the product is called oxidation reaction
Examples: a) 2Mg+O2------- 2MgO
Mg combines with oxygen to form MgO. Here, Mg undergoes oxidation.
b) MgH2 -------- Mg +H2
MgH2 loses hydrogen to form Mg. Here, MgH2 undergoes oxidation.
2)The chemical reaction in which a reactant gains hydrogen or loses oxygen to form the product is called reduction reaction.
Examples:a) C+2H2-------- CH4
C gains hydrogen to form CH4.Here, C undergoes reduction.
b) 2Ag2O------- 4Ag+O2
Ag2O loses oxygen to form Ag. Here, Ag2O undergoes reduction

Oxidation:

In a chemical reaction, when the oxygen is added to the element to form its respective oxide it is the element being oxidised.

Example:

4Na(s) + O2(g) → 2Na2O(s)

H2S + O2 → H2O + SO2

Reduction:

In a chemical reaction, when the oxygen is being removed from the compound then it is said to be reduced.

Example:

CuO(s) + H2(g) → Cu(s) + H2O(l)

2HgO → 2Hg + O2
