Livre: Livre was the currency of France that discontinued in 1794.
Subsistence Crisis:
It is an extreme situation where the basic means of livelihood are endangered.
Causes:
- rise in population of France .
- rise in population lead to rise in demand of food grains . prices rose and wages of workers declined. this widened gap between poor and rich .
- moreover , drought and hail was also responsible
Treason: Treason refers to the act of betrayal towards the nation or offence of attempting to overthrow the government. One who carries out treason is known as a traitor.
Guillotine: The guillotine is a device consisting of two poles and a blade with which a person is beheaded. It was named after Dr . Guillotine who invented it.
Jacobin Club: Jacobin club belonged mainly to the less prosperous section of society. It was a political club formed to discuss government policies and plan their own forms of action. They wore long striped trousers similar to those worn by dock workers.
