Answer:

A gas is a substance with no definite volume and no definite shape. Solids and liquids have volumes that do not change easily. A gas, on the other hand, has a vol- ume that changes to match the volume of its container. The molecules in a gas are very far apart compared with the molecules in a solid or a liquid.

Why the gases have no definite volume and no definite shape?

Particles are far apart from each other because there are very weak forces of attraction between them. They move fast in all directions. Because of this, gases don't have a definite shape or volume and fill any container. Because there is lots of free space between particles, gases can easily be compressed.
