The brown substance that is copper when heated, copper oxide is formed.
It is known as a combination reaction. If hydrogen gas is made to pass over pre-heated copper oxide ( CuO ).
As a result, the black coating on the surface turns brown as the reverse reaction takes place and copper is obtained.
So when hydrogen gas is passed over copper oxide copper is obtained.

Hey mate here is u r answer ....
H2 +CuO ------ Cu +H2O
Here one reactant gains oxygen ( H2) =oxidation
on the other hand one reactant loses oxygen (CuO )=Reduction
here oxidation and reduction reaction takes place simultaneously therefore it is Redox reaction
