In 1807, the Junagadh become a British protectorate and named after the East Indian Company took control of the state.


This usually carries along with other princely states of Kathiawar and separately administrated under agency by British India.


Junagadh was joined on 9th November 1947. It was a first part of Saurashtra and later Bombay state. This includes Maha Gujarat Movement and become a part of newly formed Gujarat State.
