Explain the following statement with reasons. - Siraj-ud-Daulah was defeated in the Battle of Plassey.

Siraj-ud-Daulah was defeated in battle of Plassey because Robert Clive bribed some important members of Siraj-ud-Daulah's court including his commander-in-chief Mir Jafar. on 23rd june 1757, the armies of Siraj-ud-Daulah and english east India company met at Plassy and Mir Jafar and his loyal soldirs in the Nawab's army did not take part in the battle due to this reason Siraj-ud-Daulah was defeated.
