Oxidizing agents:

Oxidizing agents or oxidants are substances that gain electrons in the chemical reaction. It is also known as electron acceptors. These substances are reduced since they gain electrons.

Common oxidizing agents are: Elements belong to group 17 (Halogens) since they are highly electronegative and they have high tendency to accept electrons.

Reducing agents:

Reducing agents or reductant are substances that loses electrons in the chemical reaction. These substances are oxidized since they lose electrons.

Common reducing agents are: Alkali metals (if they lose an electron they attain noble gas configuration

hey mate!!!

here is u r answer!!!

____________________________________________________________

oxidation :-

the gain of oxygen by a substance in a reaction is called oxidation.

ex:--

mg +(O)2------------->mgo.

mg oxidized agent they gained oxygen.

______________________________

reduction:--

the loss of oxygen by a substance ina reaction is called reduction.

ex:---

zno+c------------>Zn + co.

here is zn reduced oxygen thus Zn is a reducing agent.
