Explain the following terms :
- Reversible change
- Irreversible change
- Contraction
- Evaporation
- Condensation
- Combustion
- 1. Reversible change ➪ The changes in which original Substances can be recovered by reversing the process are called reversible changes, ( e.g ) When wax is heated , it melts and when the liquid wax is cooled , it solidifies.
- 2. Irreversible change ➪ The changes in whuch the original substances cannot be recovered by reversing the process are called irreversible changes, ( e.g ) formation of ash by burning coal.
- 3. Contraction ➪ It is the property of substance by which the size of the substance decrease on cooling.
- 4. Evaporation ➪ The process of conversion of liquid into vapour state by heating in known as Evaporation.
- 5. Condensation ➪ The process of conversion of vapour into liquid by cooling is known as Condensation.
- 6. Combustion ➪ Some substances start burning on heating. This is called Combustion. If we light a candle, The wax in the wicks burns.
