Answers
Answer:
A. True Fruit: True fruits are formed by the contribution of only one part of the flower, that is ovary. Most of the fruits are formed by this method.
B. False Fruit: Fruit formed by the contribution of ovary as well as thalamus, is called a false fruit. Eg: apple, strawberry.
C. Apomixis: It is a form of asexual reproduction which appears as sexual reproduction. It involves the formation of seeds without fertilization. Such plants are complete clones of their parents as there is no recombination of different characters involved, which usually occurs in seed formation through sexual reproduction. Eg: citrus fruits.
D. Parthenocarpic fruits: These fruits are formed without fertilization. These fruits do not contain seeds. Eg: Banana.
E. Polyembryony: Commonly occurring in citrus fruits, it involves formation of many embryos in a seed. Usually a seed contains a single embryo sac which upon fertilization forms the embryo. But in this case, some of the nucellar cells surrounding the embryo sac start dividing mitotically , enter the embryo sac, and form embryos.
