Summary:-
These two stanzas enlighten us about a very interesting conversation between a little girl and a bird. Here, that little girl is convincing a bird to be her pet and to live with her.
In first stanza,
The little girl called the bird with Birdie to show her love towards the bird. The little girl asked her to be her pet animal and informed her that summer season is not coming soon.
The little girl told her that if she agrees, she would give her a silk blanket(silk quilts), a soft bed(velvet bed) and a pillow of smooth fabric.
The girl showed her all the comforts, but bird rejected all of them.
In second stanza,
The bird thought that if she agrees with little girl, she would live in ivy wall(a wall covered with ivy plant). No rain would be able to come in but she would be able to listen it. She would be able to see sunrise and sunset.
But she couldn't sacrifice her freedom. So she rejected all the lavish things provided by the little girl politely and fly away while singing.
