HEY MATE HERE IS YOUR ANSWER:-

The formation of the North American Prairies started with the uplift of the Rocky Mountains near Alberta. The mountains created a rain shadow that resulted in lower precipitation rates downwind. The parent material of most prairie soil was distributed during the last glacial advance that began about 110,000 years ago.

Answer:

As the Rocky Mountain along the west grew higher and higher due to plate tectonics, rain- bearing winds from the Pacific Ocean where blocked and prevented from reaching the leeward side of the mountains. As a result, tree could not grow in the region of east of the mountains, which led to the formation of the Prairies.
