Hello!

Here's how bleaching powder is formed. When you react two moles of slaked lime with two moles of chlorine gas, bleaching powder is obtained along with calcium chloride.

Reaction:

2Ca(OH)₂ + 2Cl₂ ------> Ca(OCl)₂ + CaCl₂ + 2H₂O

The chemical name of bleaching powder is calcium oxychloride.

Thanks!
