First for the formation of curd we definitely need Lactobacillus bacteria which acts on the milk by anaerobic respiration to produce CO2 which is the main reason for the for the formation of milk. Other factors are there too but this is the main one.

The process of making curd from milk is called as Curdling and also fermentation. Milk contains Globular proteins called casein and the reaction between the lactic acid bacteria(LACTOBACILLUS) and itself makes Curd.
