as electron configuration of o2 is 2,6. it shares 2 electron with another oxygen. it is the formation of covalent bond of o2. in case of n2, the electron configuration is 2,5. so it shares 3 electron with another nitrogen and forms triple covalent bond

In double covalent bond of O2 ,
Oxygen atoms shares 2 electron to complete its octet(8 electrons).
Atoms arranged as like seen in attachment 1.(SHARING OF 2 ELECTRONS)
in double covalent bond of N2
Nitrogen atoms shares 3 electron to complete its octet(8 electrons).
Atoms arranged as like seen in attachment 2.(SHARING OF 3 ELECTRONS)
