Seeds and Fruits. The seeds and fruits are the results of fertilization or sexual reproduction in plants. The ovary in angiosperms develops into the fruit whereas the ovules become the seeds enclosed within the fruit. Seeds are found both in gymnosperms and angiosperms.

After the formation of zygote following changes

occur in a flower.

(a) Bright colour of flower is lost.

(b) Except ovary, all the parts of flower fall off.

(c) Ovule in the ovary supplies food to the zygote which becomes embryo.

(d) Meanwhile, the walls of ovule become hard.

(e) Thus, the ovule transforms itself into seed.

(f) As the seeds form, the ovary increases in size and becomes fruit.

(g) The ovary wall becomes the fruit wall.
