Explain the formation of Himalayas.

because of goundwana land came convering to each other. on the place there was Tethys sea because of formation of the Himalayas it cause shrinking of Tethys sea

Formation of Himalayas

  • The Himalayas are considered to be rather very young mountains compared to others. They are referred to as  fold mountains.  The Himalayas are said to be not existing from the starting  but are considered.
  • The formation of Himalayas to please because of the tectonic plates motion beneath the surface of Earth. The pressure that was created due to the compression on the plates that pushed the land  from both the sides.
  • There was a constant pressure created on both the sides of the plane and due to which the land was being posed and hence there was formation of Himalayas.
  • The pressure was created from below the surface of Earth due to  collision between Indian and Eurasian plate.Due to collision the compressional forces started working on the the plates thereby forming Himalayas and Tibetan plateau due to folding and faulting. it is seen that Himalaya is still increasing by a cm per year.
