The himalays stretches over 24000km. This immense mountain range is formed by huge tectonic forces and sclupted by unceasing denudation by the process of erosion and weathering.

In due course of times this depression gradually got filked with deposition of sediments by the river flowing from the mountains in the north and peninsular plateau in the south. A flat land of extensive alluvial led the formation of the Indiam planes
