Formation of lather takes place when soap reacts with soft water.
Soap has two ends hydrophobic and hydrophilic ends.At the surface the soap align itself in such a way that its hydrocarbon chain is protruding outside.
Inside the water have a unique orientation that keeps hydrocarbon chain outside.
This is achieved by forming clustures of molecules in which the hydrocarbon end is in the interior and ionic end is at the end. This formation is called miscell.
