Formation:

A water molecule is formed when two atoms of Hydrogen and two atoms of Oxygen combine.

Equation:

(skeletal)

 H_2 (g) + O_2 (g) → H_2O (g)

(however, it doesn't satisfies the Law of Conservation of mass, i.e., the mass before a chemical reaction is same as the mass after the reaction.)

(balanced)

 \boxed{2H_2 (g) + O_2 (g) → 2H_2O (g) }

LHS:-

  • H → 4 atoms,
  • O → 2 atoms

Total atoms → 6

RHS:-

  • H → 4 atoms,
  • O → 2 atoms

Total atoms → 6

LHS = RHS
