the French society during the late eighteenth century was divided into three estates.
the estates were mainly known as first estate, second estate and third estate.

first estate mainly consists of clergyman's. they werein minority. they were free from paying any kind of taxes they had 45% of total country land under them.

second estate mainly consists of aristocrat and the royal family they were in minority and free from paying any kind of taxes and they also had 45% of total country land under them.

third estate mainly consists of Businessman, farmers, poor peasants etc. they were in majority . they had to pay all taxes and 5% of total countries land was under them they were poor and they have not certain rights
