To convert electrical energy into mechanical energy, using an electric machine is the electric motor.
- The main working concept behind the electric motor is that when a rectangular coil is placed in a magnetic field and an electric charge passed through it, then the force acting on the coil will rotate it.
- Armature: This is a necessary part of the motor which used to hold alternating current (AC). It is a rectangular-shaped coil that is placed in a magnetic field and when an electric current passes through it. And also this coil is attached to a shaft and this coil makes that shaft rotate.
- Brushes: The part that transmits current between the stationary wires and moving parts.
- Split Ring: The other name for the split ring is commutator and which can reverse the direction of current passing through the coil. And also makes the rotation of the coil in a single direction.
