Armature is the rotating part of a motor or a generator. In a motor the armature rotates when electricity is provided thus it converts electrical and magnetic energy into mechanical energy. In a generator the armature rotates to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy in the presence of a magnetic field.
the function of brushes is to make contact with the rotating rings and through them to supply current to the coil.
Slip rings are used as they remove the need for the wires to be attached to the loop and the carbon brushes maintain a constant electric circuit while rotating.
