Explain the function of BRAIN
Answers
BRAIN :-
Brain is the mean coordinating centre of human body and is one of the main component of one's nervous system.
It is protected by cranium.
It is covered by 3 membranes called meninges filled with a fluid called cerebrospinal fluid which protects the brain from shock.
Brain has 3 parts :-
- Fore Brain :- The fore brain consist of cerebrum and olfactory lobes. It is the thinking part of the brain and controls voluntary actions like touch, smell, hearing, taste, sight, mental activities, like thinking, learning, memory, emotions, etc.
- Mid Brain :- It controls involuntary actions and reflex movement of neck, head, eyes, etc.
- Hind Brain :- It include cerebellum Pons and Medulla. The cerebellum controls body movements, posture and balance. Pons controls respiration and medulla controls actions like coughing, vomiting, sneezing, Heartbeat, BP, etc.

Question:-
Explain the function of brain.
Answer:
Brain is most important and delicate organ of the human body.It is protected from all sides by a bony brain box or cranium. It is also protected by triple layered meninges. The space between the meninges is filled by a fluid called cerebrospinal fluid.
This fluid is also found in the cavities of the brain. Cerebrospinal fluid protects the brain from mechanical shocks and provides buoyancy to the brain. It also help in providing oxygen and nutrients to the brain.
The main parts of the brain are:
- Forebrain
- Midbrain
- Hindbrain
It is the largest part of the brain and consists mainly of cerebrum.Other smaller parts are olfactory lobe and diencephalon.
Cerebrum is the largest and most important part of the brain. It is the seat of intelligence. All important aspects of learning, thinking, reasoning and memory, etc., are governed by cerebrum.
Its various areas are sensory area, motor area, association area, etc.
Forebrain has another important part called hypothalamus. It is related to temperature regulation, hunger centre and thirst centre also.
Midbrain is situated beneath the cerebrum. Many auditory and visual reflex movements are controlled by midbrain.Midbrain also controls accomodation of eyes and reflex movements of eye muscles.
It consists of cerebellum, pons and medulla. Cerebellum is the most prominent part of the hindbrain.
Cerebellum is related to maintenance of balance of the body and posture maintenance. It allows us to take accurate movements.
Medulla: Controls many reflexes and involuntary actions like breathing, heartbeat, peristaltic movements of alimentary canal.
It continues in the form of spinal cord.
