Explain the function of epidermis?

  • The epidermis perspires by producing moisture through secretions of the sudoriferous glands.
  • The evaporation of this moisture has a cooling effect on the body.
  • The sudoriferous glands present in epidermis, also known as the sweat glands, are responsible for secreting waste substances.

It provides protection to the plant and prevents the cell from damage and infection.

It prevents loss of water (by evaporation) due to the presence of cuticle and prevents desiccation.

It helps in exchange of gases through stomata and keeps the plant part cool by loss of water through transpiration.

It absorbs water and Minerals with the help of root hair.
