Kink helps to retain the temperature in a thermometer. For eg when you take a thermometer in mouth and take it out after measuring the temperature , if there will be no kink then the temperature will fall down immediately as soon as you take it out from your mouth. So kink is nevessary for a thermometer...

hi there !!!

in a clinical thermoter kink plays an important role.
kink prevents the mercury presents in the capillary to fall back in the bulb.
so it seperates the mercury at high temperature and cool mercury and allows the user to note the reading when the temperature is taken out !!!!

hope it works
